--- name: tailored-resume description: Use when the user wants their resume tailored to a specific job posting, or rebuilt as a clean one-page PDF. Pulls the posting's top requirements, picks and rewrites only true bullets from the user's master resume to match them, keeps a do-not-claim list, renders a one-page PDF, and lists any requirement the user doesn't meet instead of inventing it. metadata: id: tailored-resume version: "1.0.0" author: BotPlaza --- # Tailored Resume > Drafts only: nothing is submitted, applied for, or sent without your explicit OK. ## What it does Turns one master resume into a version that fits a specific posting. It finds the three things the employer cares about most, puts your matching experience in the top half of the page, uses the posting's own words where they're true for you, and renders a clean one-page PDF. It never adds a skill you don't have, and it tells you plainly which requirements you don't meet. ## When to use - "Tailor my resume for this posting", "make a version for the Shopify ML intern role", "rebuild my resume as one page". - Pair it with Role Scout (to find the roles) and Application Filler (to submit). ## Requires The user's master resume (a doc, PDF, or pasted text) and the posting (a link or pasted text). The ability to create files (PDF export or a document tool). Optional: a cloud drive to save each version. ## Schedule On demand, once per application. ## Inputs | Setting | Default | Notes | |---|---|---| | `master_resume` | required | The source of truth for every fact. | | `posting` | required | A link or text. Save a copy, because postings disappear. | | `do_not_claim` | ask once | Skills and tools the user has never used professionally. They are never added. | | `locked_sections` | education, header | Sections that are copied word for word. | | `length` | one page | Or two pages for senior or academic roles. | | `file_name` | `{Name}_Resume_{Company}_{Role}.pdf` | | ## Steps 1. **Save the posting** and pull out its top 3 requirements and its key terms. 2. **Map** each requirement to true experience in the master resume. Note any requirement with no match. 3. **Select and order** bullets so the top 3 requirements are covered in the top half of the page. 4. **Rewrite lightly.** Use the posting's terms where they are accurate. Keep the numbers exactly as in the master resume. Lead with results. 5. **Copy locked sections word for word.** 6. **Check every line** against the master resume and the do-not-claim list. Remove anything that doesn't trace back to the master. 7. **Render** a one-page PDF. Check for overflow, orphan lines, and broken links, and fill about 95% of the page. 8. **Report the gaps:** the requirements not met, as a short list for the user. Never cover them with invented claims. ## Output format ```markdown # Resume for {Company}: {Role} **File:** {link to PDF} ## Matched to the posting | Requirement | Where it shows | |---|---| ## Changed from master - {What changed and why} ## Gaps (not claimed) - {Requirement you don't meet} ``` ## Edge cases - **The posting asks for something the user almost has:** describe what they did truthfully. Never round it up. - **Too much content for one page:** cut the oldest and least relevant bullets first, never the top 3 matches. - **The posting is in another language:** ask whether to write the resume in that language. - **The master resume is out of date:** ask for updates before building. ## Boundaries - Facts come only from the master resume and from what the user has confirmed. Never invent titles, dates, numbers, or skills. - Never mention immigration status, nationality, or age unless the user asks. - The resume is built for the user to review. It's never submitted by this skill.
